SUSTAINABILITY PROMISE

At KAMI, we are keen to only work with partners who share our values, sourcing high quality and sustainable material that will stand the test of time.

Why is sustainability in fashion so important?
The global textile industry is one of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, responsible for 8-10% of global carbon emissions, around 4-5 billion tonnes, this is more than all international flights and maritime shipping combined. This is projected to rise by 50% by 2030 if we carry on consuming at current rates.
The fashion industry is not only highly polluting but it violates human rights in many countries. Fast fashion is able to be so cheap as many garment workers  are not paid a living wage. They are forced to work long hours in factories with little to no health and safety regulations.
These facts are alarming, but the solution is simple: Slow down fashion and continue efforts to increase transparency in the fashion industry.

"Fast fashion is not free, someone, somewhere is paying" - Lucy Siegle

Where are our products made?

Our European factory is run on 100% renewable energy sources and has been audited by QIMA, scoring 9.7/10 (certified supply chain auditors, to internationally recognised audit standards). This audit covers many aspects of ethical production, including: health & safety, hygiene, waste management, child labour, hours, wages and benefits, labour practices, forced labour and migrant labour. We will strive to be as transparent as possible about our supply chain for both our material suppliers and manufacturing facility.

Our Materials
All materials are sourced in Europe and certified according to the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX ®. Check out the product pages for more detailed information of each material.
ECONYL®
We use ECONYL® regenerated nylon, the product of fishing nets and other waste material that would otherwise end up in landfill. The quality of the end product is the same as virgin polyester, without the associated environmental footprint – using 70,000 less barrels crude oil and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 58% compared to the equivalent volume of fossil fuel derived nylon.
BLUESIGN®

We work with BLUESIGN® certified material suppliers. This ensures a conscious production process with a safe and sustainable working environment. They track the path of every fabric along the production process in order to improve their efforts towards a more sustainable process.

Packaging
Our plastic-free mailer bags are made from potato starch and branded using a vegetable based ink, making them 100% biodegradable and 100% compostable. Make sure to remove the shipping label before putting it on the compost!
All garments being shipped from factories must come in protective bags. We use a biodegradable and non-toxic alternative, instead of using the conventional plastic bagsIf they do end up in the ocean, they are completely harmless if ingested by marine animals and will eventually dissolve to leave carbon dioxide, water and mineralised natural biomass. If you want to eliminate them reaching the ocean, you can simply dissolve the bag in a glass of hot water. The resultant liquid is completely non-toxic and can be poured down the sink - check out or Instagram reels to see the magic happen!

We have tried to eliminate unnecessary packaging where possible, as such our garments are label free as we believe they serve no purpose and will ultimately end up in the bin. At KAMI, we are committed to being single-use plastic free. Wbelieve we need to make a collective effort to reduce our plastic consumption, reusing and repurposing as much as possible in order to clean up our oceans.
